Why do some personal checks have no contact information?

I recently opened an account, and they provided me with a checkbook including about 8 checks, none of which have my name and address in the upper left hand corner. Is this normal, or are they basically worthless due to that area being blank?

My credit union has a hold policy on personal checks, and I don’t feel like depositing checks and waiting before I can withdraw them. The issuers bank is nearby, and I was wondering if most banks will cash checks issued by them (without any fees) if I don’t have an account with them.
