I rarely use personal checks. But I do need some on hand from time to time. Even though it would be fairly simple to just order a bunch through my bank, I started to wonder if it was possible (and legal) to design and print checks at home.
Can I design and print my own personal checks? If so, any free online resources to help with this?

You cannot get the ink. The ink is a special ink designed to comply to the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition standard. If you do get your hands on some ink, expect a visit from the Secret Service.
